Summer 2-Player League – Week 6 Doubles

Here are the finishing position tables for the final week of the NTTL summer 2-player league where we ran a set of doubles matches. Each team in their respective division played everyone else. To be clear, this is a set of tables that only reflect this doubles event. To see the final tables for weeks 1-5 matches please see here.

Final Tables

Division One

1st – Two Old Codgers (5 wins)
2nd – The Anarchists (3 wins)
3rd – Highfield Challengers (3 wins)
4th – Duston is Dead (2 wins)
5th – The Badgers (1 win)
6th – The Vanguards (1 win)

The Two Old Codgers proved too steady for everyone on the night, dropping just one end across all five of their matches. We had a couple of stand-in teams as neither The Badgers or Duston is Dead could field a team. The Anarchists and Highfield Challengers had three wins each, but The Anarchists squeezed past Highfield Challengers in their encounter to take second place.

Division Two

1st – Diogo Forever (4 wins)
2nd – ACC All-Stars (4 wins)
3rd – Bridge (3 wins)
4th – The Legendary Collection (3 wins)
5th – Sultans of Ping Pong (1 win)
6th – We Showed Up (0 wins)

Diogo Forever took first place as they nudged out ACC-All Stars 3-1 in their encounter, both teams winning four matches. Similarly Bridge took third place due to beating The Legendary Collection 3-0 after both teams winning three matches apiece. Honourable mention goes to We Showed Up, who indeed did show up with a team every week, missing out on a win by the narrowest of margins.

To decide the final order, where the number of team wins was the same, the head-to-head between those teams determined who finished above who.

Many thanks to all the teams and volunteers who made this event possible, including the previous five weeks. The league is very grateful for all the support, and looks to continue to improve the table tennis experience in Northampton going forwards for league and social players.
